This is one of my go-to spreads I’ve been using for years that I felt compelled to share.. It’s a spread ideal for when you are about to embark on a new adventure (career, relationship, degree, moving, etc.).
1.) Kharon, the Ferryman Your guide for this new journey. Usually referring to specific person who will assist in this new journey, it can also be sometimes interpreted as a specific piece of advice or wisdom that needs to be followed to manage your transition smoothly.
2.) Yourself, the Crosser You, obviously. This is helpful to the overall spread in two ways: the basic of making sure the deck has aligned (”heard”) the question being asked and also to indicate the ideal mindset the querent should have for this new step in life.
3.) The Boat What will keep you stable during this shifting period.
4.) Styx What will have to be crossed to achieve this goal. Not necessarily a “difficulty”, it’s more about the process and the best methodology of steps.
5.) Kerberos, The Guard This is the difficulty, the obstruction, the representation of what will prevent your new stage from flourishing. Like Kerberos, it shouldn’t be viewed as “bad” or “evil”, just a part of the crossing that you need to address correctly. If you aren’t a spirit yet in the Underworld, be prepared on how to best dodge those three slobbering jaws.
6.) Hades, The Afterlife The ideal outcome, the goal. It’s very possible it might not be what the querent expected.
remember when tumblr used to have the format for reblogged additions on posts be indented instead of vertical and if the post had enough additions to it (which happened frequently because no one on tumblr can shut their fucking mouth) it would just push all the text off the side of the post completely and it became unreadable. it would get so far pushed over that it would just be exactly one character per line and you had to read the post like that. that was a real thing that happened
